Please review cover letter, and suggest things!! (It feels wordy, but that might be appropriate??)?
Dear Hiring Manager:
I was excited to view your posting on Craigslist.org for an entry-level accounting position. I am an experienced administrative assistant who is trying to become a CPA, and would be thrilled to join your company. I believe my experience, education, and skills are appropriate for this opening.
My 6+ years of administrative experience, and 3+ years supporting senior management in a financial instution would be essential in providing you with an efficienct staff member. I am familiar with the position reqirements considering my current responsibilities contain reconciling GL accounts, compiling financial data and producing various reports for the Board of Directors. My software proficiency includes Quickbooks, company-specific banking applications, and utilizing Microsoft Office applications for financial data. It would be easy to acclimate me to your team with my high adaptability and computer aptitude, reducing training time and getting me up and running quickly.
The road I’ve traveled to become an accountant has certianly been a rocky one, and I am still working toward my bachelor’s degree. Despite the many setbacks, I have already received my Associates Degree in Accounting from Heald and feel ready and eager to employ my skills at your firm. At Heald, we studied Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting softwares, payroll accounting, accounting spreadsheets, and Federal and State income taxes for both businesses and individuals. The combination of my education and drive to succeed would make me an ideal canidate to include in your professional team.
I look forward to your invitation for an interview, so that we may discuss the ways in which I can help your firm shine. Thank you so much for reviewing my attached resume, which further details my helpful qualifications. I am available at any time, should you need additional informaiton or have any questions.
Sincerely,
Have made changes since posting, and reposted question as:
Please review my cover letter, and suggest helpful things!
Changes included: 1) Fixed misspellings (saw them right after posting). 2) Removed the “rocky” part. was going for ‘showing personality’ and seeming human, but it might’ve reflected badly. (as Genevive said [thank you G!!]) 3) removed some ‘I’ usage, and instead of ‘believing’ made more firm statements.
(Could you re-review, Genevive? I am very thankful for your thoughts so far!!)
